LAUREN LABISTE
NYC Based
Singer, Dancer, Actor
ABOUT ME
My name is Lauren Labiste, and I am originally from Scotch Plains, New Jersey. Growing up with a mom who trained as a professional ballerina, I gravitated toward becoming a New York City based performer early on. I was placed into dance classes as soon as I could walk, and quickly shifted my focus from becoming a ballerina to a musical theatre performer.
Now, I’m a recent graduate of Fordham University and theatre and dance are still the most important parts of my everyday life. My favorite thing about performing is being able to collaborate with a group to portray a diverse selection of characters while evoking a range of emotions in the audience. After all- there’s no better feeling than making people laugh!
When I’m not at Broadway Dance Center, you can find me at my favorite hot yoga studio, searching for a new album to play on repeat, or at a new restaurant with my friends. Whatever may have brought you here- welcome!

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Dance education is one of the ways students get to develop confidence, responsibility, collaboration, empathy, creativity and many more leadership skills in a nurturing risk-free environment. To each class, I collectively bring over 19 years of experience as a performer, choreographer, and educator of ballet, tap, musical theatre, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. With those experiences, I have developed a foundation of discipline, hard work, respect, and most importantly passion.
I learned more about myself in a dance studio because I was given the space to explore, to be vulnerable, and to develop empathy and compassion for others. Each student deserves to have that opportunity to grow and develop and I will ensure they receive the same invaluable experiences, lessons, and memories that I was able to have.
